I have put some work into crafting the main Reluctant Nomad website and its sister site—the first sister site, perhaps, although I am not making any promises.
The main site is for the ramblings: the places, problems, questions and things I still do not know. The sister site is intended to be less prattle and more pictures. Sometimes an image needs a story. Sometimes it just needs to be left alone.
Meanwhile, I am planning the next trip.
The plan, such as it currently exists, is a long vanlife weekend at Cheddar Gorge. This means deciding where to stay, what to see and how much of the plan I will ignore once I arrive.
Before any of that, the van requires attention.
It should have taken thirty minutes.
Today’s job was simply to connect power to the water system already installed in the van. Three hours later, I had replaced the pump.
This appears to be the usual arrangement with van jobs. You begin by connecting one wire and end up dismantling something you had not previously known existed.
I am also in the early stages of replacing—or perhaps upgrading—the van’s kitchen. The current sink is neither practical nor to my taste, which is an unfortunate combination for something occupying a large part of a very small room.
The short version is that I have learned a great deal more.
The longer version will probably involve another pump.
